The 16 valve Volkswagen engine is the same as the EA827 series, the only difference being the addition of piston cooling oil squirters, similar to the g60 block but with a 16 valve cylinder head attached. In 1990 the GTi G60 was also introduced featuring the 8v 1.8 with a G60 supercharger this version is not to be confused with the very rare G60 Limited (see below).
