Well, according to the deleted text, "spatial mode" effectively emulates the OS 9.x Finder, using plain Aqua windows (not metal, and with no sidebar) and opening a new window for each opened folder. I know that you can open a new window for a folder by command-double-clicking it, but the resulting window is no different in appearance.
