The arch can be accessed from the Devil's Garden Trailhead, approximately 18 miles from the park entrance. [2] The trail is relatively flat and stops by Tunnel Arch and the much larger Landscape Arch .
The trail that runs through the preserve is about 3 1/2 miles in length and is a loop trail. The trailhead begins in the parking lot for trail No. 10 in Shades State Park.
The formation can be accessed via a 2.34 mile hike by the Dark Angel Trail. The path leaves from the end of the Devil's Garden Trail at a junction just south of Double O Arch. [4] The pillar is also accessible by climbing, and was one of the first formations to be climbed in the park [5]
