A journal, called the BAUET Journal, is published annually in order to preserve the scientific discoveries of the university. Both the students and teachers publish scientific articles regularly in this journal. The university authority provides large amounts of research grants to promising research projects which are conducted at the university.
On 26 July 2016, [2] the government of Bangladesh enacted a regulation in the National Assembly to set up the university on a 50-acre site adjoining to Bangabandhu Hi-Tech Park in Kaliakair, Gazipur District. [3] Instruction began with the 2018–2019 academic year, for which 100 students were offered admission. [4]
Its first constitution was drafted in its general assembly on 30 October 1925. In 1953, its constitution was amended and the union was renamed Dhaka University Central Students' Union. The chancellor of the university acts as the president of the Union while other posts are elected from the students representatives. [9]

The university also has a cell (Institutional Quality Assurance Cell – IQAC) to enhance and ensure quality education and research. In addition to its own research the university undertakes collaborative research programs with different national and international universities, industries, and organizations.
