Parktown is a wealthy suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa, and is the first suburb north of the inner city (both chronologically and geographically). It is affectionately known as one of the Parks , others including Parkview , Parkwood , Westcliff , Parktown North , Parkhurst and Forest Town .
Parktown North is a popular dining out venue for Johannesburg residents. Most notably 7th Avenue is home to many of the area's top restaurants. The eastern suburbs of Johannesburg are located in the city's 7th [needs update] and 9th [needs update] regions. The area is also functionally integrated with East Rand border towns outside of the official boundary of Johannesburg, such as Bedfordview and Edenvale (both part of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality).
