Antoine Mattei (23 March 1917, in Scolca – 31 May 1981) was an officer of the French Foreign Legion made famous by the writings of Paul Bonnecarrère, who published in 1968 Par le sang versé (By the blood shed), [1] the title refers to one of the ways a legionnaire obtains French nationality, and La guerre cruelle (The cruel war) in 1972, which also featured his exploits.
