I have a legit copy of both windows 11 home and of Microsoft Office XP 2002. They have worked, harmoniously together until September. After which Excel and Word simply stopped working (would crash shortly after opening). Another program I have (Markbook by Asylum software) also stopped working in early September.

So, I went in the garage and looked for those exact copies to try them out on Windows 10.
If it works in Safe Mode, try removing any Add-ins and see if it then works when started normally. If it does, move the Add-ins back to the Startup folder one at time to try and locate the one that is causing the problem.
Just to note that Word 97 and 2003 both seem to work fine in Windows 10. However, Word 2010 is what opens when I double-click on a document within Windows. That is my preference. To open a document in an earlier (or later) version, I open the program directly and use File > Open.
