Cabo Verde Invesimentos (CI) (Portuguese for Cape Verdean Investments) is a Cape Verdean agency promoting national and foreign investments and exports. Among its main objectives are the promotion of conditions conducive to the realization of national and foreign investment projects as well as the promotion of the export of Cape Verdean goods and services.
Cape Verde assigned one of its first ambassadors to the United States, and a resident U.S. ambassador was posted to Cape Verde in 1983. Prime Minister Jose Neves visited Cape Verdean communities in New England during an official trip to the United States in 2002, and President Pedro Pires visited the United States in April 2005.
Plateau is the historic centre of the capital city of Praia on the island of Santiago, Cape Verde. It gets its name (from French “plateau”) because it is situated on a plateau overlooking the port of Praia. Its average elevation is 37 meters above sea level. [1] The population of Plateau was 1,019 at the 2010 census. [2]
Cape Verde joined the World Bank in November 20, 1978, after declaring its independence from Portugal in 1975. [1] The first agreement with the IDA occurred on February 8, 1983, supporting the Praia Port Project for the amount of $7,200,000. Since then 45 other projects have been approved through the World Bank totaling in $445,200,000. [2]
