Sackets Harbor (earlier spelled Sacketts Harbor) is a village in Jefferson County, New York, United States, on Lake Ontario. The population was 1,450 at the 2010 census. [ 2 ] The village was named after land developer and owner Augustus Sackett, who founded it in the early 1800s.

Madison Barracks was a military installation established in 1813 [2] or 1815 [3] at Sackets Harbor that was built for occupation by 600 U.S. troops, a few years after the War of 1812.
