Been reading lots of posts on FB from people in Palencia and Durbin about the presence of water moccassins. I am sure most have heard from that women who recently was bit. My sister works at Florida Hospital and did say there have been several bites this year. I understand its Florida with lots of creatures etc...
As for water temp, the water is usually warm enough to go in by early June. One positive about Lake Hartwell, is the fact that due to the coldwater winter months, the lake does not have water moccasins. The water moccasin's habitat / range, ends just north of Columbia and does not extend into the Upstate lakes.

Wow! What a thread. Can someone tell me if snakes are in the lake. Do they stay close to short. The water temperature in Lake Norman yesterday was 87 degrees and all I had on my mind in Crocidiles.....
