The Osa Wildlife Sanctuary (Spanish: Fundación Santuario Silvestre de Osa) or Caña Blanca Wildlife Sanctuary, is an animal rescue center located in Osa Peninsula in southwestern Costa Rica. The Sanctuary is accessible only by boat and is completely surrounded by Piedras Blancas National Park .
The main town on the peninsula is Puerto Jimenez, which has its own airport and provides access to Corcovado National Park as well as the coastal villages of Cabo Matapalo and Carate. [1] A large part of the peninsula is a wildlife/forest preserve that is protected: the Osa Conservation Area .
Costa Rica ratified the convention on 23 August 1977. [3] It has four World Heritage Sites and one site on the tentative list. [3] The first site in Costa Rica listed was the Talamanca Range-La Amistad Reserves / La Amistad National Park, in 1983. In 1990, the site was expanded to include the sites across the border in Panama.
