Chitra Mudgal (born 10 December 1943) is an Indian Writer and one of the leading literary figures of modern Hindi literature. She is the first Indian woman to receive the coveted Vyas Samman for her novel Avaan. In 2019 she was awarded India's highest literary award, the Sahitya Akademi, for her novel Post Box No. 203, Naalasopara.
Established by Premchand in 1930, it had Mahatma Gandhi in its editorial board and continued till 1956, when it was shut down by Amrit Rai, due to financial woes. [2] The magazine was revived in 1986 by Rajendra Yadav, a noted short-story writer and novelist.
A significant amount of Apabhraṃśa literature has been found in Jain libraries. While Amir Khusrow and Kabir were writing in a language quite similar to modern Urdu and Hindi, many poets, especially in regions that were still ruled by Hindu kings , continued to write in Apabhraṃśa.
