A temperature data logger, also called temperature monitor, is a portable measurement instrument that is capable of autonomously recording temperature over a defined period of time. The digital data can be retrieved, viewed and evaluated after it has been recorded.
Distributed temperature sensing systems (DTS) are optoelectronic devices which measure temperatures by means of optical fibres functioning as linear sensors. Temperatures are recorded along the optical sensor cable, thus not at points, but as a continuous profile. A high accuracy of temperature determination is achieved over great distances.
RIOT (operating system) is a more recent real-time OS including similar functionality to Contiki. PreonVM [ 47 ] is an OS for wireless sensor networks, which provides 6LoWPAN based on Contiki and support for the Java programming language.
The specific configuration may vary due to the purpose of the system. [1] The system may report in near real time via the Argos System, LoRa and the Global Telecommunications System, [2] or save the data for later recovery. [3] In the past, automatic weather stations were often placed where electricity and communication lines were available.
Tan Tock Seng Hospital is the first hospital that has operationally deployed the system on all 1200 inpatients in Dec 2006 for patient location tracking. The hospital then extended the system for both wireless temperature monitoring and location tracking on all inpatients since December 2008 after the detailed successful clinical trial. [2] [3 ...
Most automated weather stations also have discrete phone numbers to retrieve real-time observations over the phone or through a modem. In the United States, the AWOS/ASOS data acquisition system (ADAS), a computer system run by the FAA, polls the systems remotely, accessing the observations and disseminating them worldwide electronically in ...
