The West Indies Federation, [2] [3] also known as the West Indies, [4] [5] the Federation of the West Indies [6] or the West Indian Federation, [7] [8] [9] was a short-lived political union that existed from 3 January 1958 to 31 May 1962.
The Federal Parliament of the West Indies Federation was the bicameral legislature in West Indies Federation from 1958 to 1962. It was formally made up of two houses, an appointed Senate ( Upper house ) and an elected House of Representatives ( Lower house ).

The West Indies Democratic Labour Party (DLP) or Democrats was one of two Federal parties in the short-lived West Indies Federation, the other being the West Indies Federal Labour Party (WIFLP). The party was organised by Sir Alexander Bustamante to counter the WIFLP led by his cousin Norman Manley .
