The college is spread over an area of 155 acres (0.6 km 2) at an altitude of 1450 meter in a quiet, congenial, hilly and pollution-free environment with a picturesque view. The summer is pleasant with a maximum temperature of 30 °C for a few weeks; the rest of the time, the weather remains cold.
According to another theory, the word Kumaon can be traced back to the 5th century BC. The Kassite Assyrians left their homeland Kummah, on the banks of river Euphrates, and settled in the northern part of India. During this time of the British control of the region, between 1815 and 1857, it was also known as Kemaon. [6] [7] [11]
