University of Wyoming athletics has been represented on the Olympic stage by swimmer Scott Usher. Usher was a member of the University of Wyoming Men's Swimming and Diving team from 2000 to 2004 where he was a five-time NCAA All-American and six-time Mountain West Conference individual champion and record holder. The Wyoming basketball program began in 1904 when a group known as the "Laramie Town Team" challenged a team from the university to a basketball game; Wyoming won that game by a score of 17–5.
