The Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council (LRGVDC) is a voluntary association of cities, counties and special districts in the Rio Grande Valley region of southern Texas. Based in Weslaco , the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council is a member of the Texas Association of Regional Councils .

Weslaco (/ ˈ w ɛ s l ə k oʊ / WESS-lə-koh) is a city in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States.As of the 2020 census the population was 41,103, Studies from 2023 show the population is 43,053 [4] and in 2020 the estimated population was 40,160. [5]

This is a bi-national map showing the Lower Rio Grande Valley. The Rio Grande Valley is not a true valley, but a river delta. "Valley" is often used in the western United States to refer to a large expanse with rivers. Most such valleys, including the Rio Grande, have good agricultural production.
Since 2005, Metro McAllen has been operated as a department of the city of McAllen. Metro McAllen now has 12 fixed routes and paratransit, serving residents and visitors. It operates seven days a week, from 6am–9pm Monday through Saturday and from 8am-6pm on Sunday. LRGVDC continues to operate regional buses under the name Valley Metro.
