In 1966, Chrysler began releasing their own automatic transmission fluid specifications; see Mopar ATF for more information. GM ATF was the same color as engine oil through 1967.
In 1959, Ford released their own Type-A automatic transmission fluid specification (M2C33-A) and stopped using GM fluid specifications for their in-house transmissions.
