Bab Mansur al-'Alj: The most famous gateway of the city (also known as Bab Mansour or Bab el-Mansur), this gate overlooks the southern end of Place el-Hedim and acted as the ceremonial grand entrance to the Kasbah of Moulay Isma'il. It was begun in the later years of Moulay Isma'il's reign and finished in 1732 by his son Moulay Abdallah.

The Mausoleum of Moulay Isma'il (Arabic: ضريح المولى إسماعيل) is a historic Islamic funerary complex in Meknes, Morocco.It contains the tomb of Sultan Moulay Isma'il, who ruled Morocco from 1672 until his death in 1727, and is located inside his former Kasbah (citadel).
The city gate was completed in 1686 or 1687 during the reign of Alaouite Sultan Moulay Ismail who ruled between 1672 and 1727. [4] It was once the main entrance to the Jewish quarter or Mellah and the western entrance to the City of the Garden of Amber, Madinat Ar-Riad Al Anbari, [5] which housed the Oudaya's army and the members of the Ismail's court.
