FREE FIX: 1. Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Remove the top/bottom trim around the steering wheel- 3 bolts on bottom, and the top/bottom pieces will be able to be removed. 2. There is a hole above the key. Use a small Allen key to push down while the key is in "ON" position. Then, wiggle the cylinder out.

Today, after using about 1/2 tank of gas, I went to fill the tank for the first time. As soon as I put the fuel nozzle into the opening, the nozzle clicked off. This happened several times, with no gas pumped at all. Finally, I had to put absolute minimum pressure on the nozzle in order to slowly fill my tank. It took forever to pump in 7 gallons.

One thing commonly missed in a turbo change on a 1.6L is the mandatory replacement of the oil line filter where the tube connects to the head. The 2013-2016 2.0L was pretty much rock solid (the design came from the DuraTech line), the 2017+ had the new "clean sheet" design which is known to have head gasket/block issues.
FORD issued a TSB for the 2013-2015 I.6L EB 6F35 calling for a complete tear-down, front pump inspection and filter change (tear-down the only way to replace the filter). This was part of a failed TC replacement. If a torque convertor fails, at the minimum the trans is flushed and the filter replaced.
Jun 5, 2024. This was a sudden failure of the 12 volt battery, not the HVB that propels the car. Failure of 12 volt batteries can happen in any car and is a common reason for cars to be towed (traditional cars, hybrids and EVs). There isn’t anything in this thread that is indicative of problems with Escape PHEVs.
