The foundation stone of AIIMS Delhi was laid in 1952. [2] The first AIIMS was established in 1956 under the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Act, 1956. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Harsh Vardhan virtually inaugurated the first academic batch of MBBS students 21 December 2020 for the 2020-21 batch. [3] The institute became operational with the first batch of 50 MBBS students, one of the four AIIMSs to become operational in academic year 2020–21.
