Caldor, Inc. was a discount department store chain founded in 1951 by husband and wife Carl and Dorothy Bennett. A vacant West Deptford, NJ Bradlees store in 2007, this was a former Jefferson Ward location that Montgomery Ward sold to Bradlees when they decided to discontinue the chain. This location space is now occupied by multiple stores. In early January 2001, the chain started their liquidation sales, and the final store closed on March 15, 2001.

The store was soon expanded to 7,500 and then 10,000 square feet, and was replaced in 1962 with a 45,000 square foot unit directly behind it. A second Zayre store opened in September 1956 in the Roslindale section of Boston, a much larger 39,000 square feet. Within a few years, Zayre stores would average 70,000 to 90,000 square feet.
The following year, the mall big-boxed the wing, turning much of it into an Old Navy store along with replacing Service Merchandise with a Circuit City store. After the departure of Bradlees in 2001, the store's former lot remained vacant until its demolition in 2002, with the former mall entrance being repurposed as an outdoor entrance.
