FM 2059 was designated on December 17, 1952, from FM 681, 2.3 miles (3.7 km) east of McCook, to a point 6.2 miles (10.0 km) east. On October 31, 1957, the road was extended east to US 281. On January 20, 1958, FM 2059 was cancelled and transferred to FM 490.
