The Baltimore Marathon is the flagship race of several races held in Baltimore, Maryland known collectively as the Baltimore Running Festival. The event was once one of the fastest-growing marathons in the United States , [ 1 ] but the number of finishers in the marathon has declined each year since 2013 .
The Camden Yards Sports Complex is home of the Baltimore Marathon, which is arguably "one of the best races on the east coast." In 2016, the event started on October 15 and featured a variety of different races. The Baltimore Marathon includes the full marathon, half marathon, team relay, 5K, kid's fun run, and the BaltiMORON-a-Thon.

DeMar continued running until shortly before his death, running his last Boston marathon at age 65 and a 15 kilometer race at age 69. He died of cancer at the age of 70. In 2010, DeMar was posthumously inducted into the National Distance Running Hall of Fame. The Clarence DeMar marathon has been held in Keene annually since 1978 in his honor.

Marilyn Bevans was the first sub-three-hour, African-American female marathon runner, and the first national-class black female American marathoner. [3] [4] She came in second place at the 1973 Maryland Marathon with a time of 3:31:45, and again came in second at the 1977 Boston Marathon, where she ran 2:51:12.
While playing for Baltimore, the team posted the best two season starts of any CFL expansion team ever, advancing to the Grey Cup in both seasons. In its final season in Baltimore, the Stallions became the only U.S.-based CFL team to win the Grey Cup, upsetting the heavily favored Calgary Stampeders.
