The early days of the course go back to 1898. Thomas Avery, descendent of one of Groton's first settlers, established a four hole course on his property with "fairways extending on both sides on his barn and farmhouse." [1] Over the next few years five more holes were added to create a nine-hole course. [1]

The golf course was redesigned to TPC standards by golf course architect Pete Dye, and reopened as the "TPC of Connecticut" in 1984. The course underwent further remodeling in 1989, this time by Bobby Weed in consultation with tour pros Howard Twitty and Roger Maltbie , and renamed the TPC at River Highlands.
Keney Park Golf Course is a public golf course located in Hartford, Connecticut and Windsor, Connecticut within Hartford's Keney Park. The first nine holes were designed by eminent golf course architect Devereux Emmet in 1927, with the remaining nine made by City of Hartford engineer Robert ”Jack” Ross in 1931.
Julius Boros, a Fairfield native, is an honorary member of the club and played frequently at Brooklawn, stunning the gallery with a hole-in-one at the second hole during an exhibition match in 1961. President William Howard Taft was also an honorary member. Brooklawn's golf course measures 6,711 yards, is rated at 73.3 and plays to a slope of 138.
