The 2024 Queensland state election was held on 26 October 2024 to elect all members to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland pursuant to the Constitution (Fixed Term Parliament) Amendment Act 2015. As a result of the 2016 Queensland term length referendum , the term of the parliament will run for four years.

However, with the transfer of the rural hinterland to Forde, Rankin became a much safer Labor seat, being one of only two Queensland seats the ALP retained in the 1996 election. Today Rankin is based on the outer southern suburbs of the City of Brisbane, in addition to portions of the City of Logan .
The LNP still holds every Queensland seat outside Brisbane except Kennedy, which is held by Bob Katter, the founder of the conservative Katter's Australian Party (KAP). One Nation's vote, although decreased since the last election, was slightly higher than it was at the 2020 Queensland state election, at 7.49%.
