It was created through an agreement between The Walt Disney Company, The Nature Conservancy, and the state of Florida. [2] It is located fifteen miles south of Walt Disney World. [3]
Within the forest is the Cloud Peak Wilderness area in which no motorized or mechanical equipment is allowed. The only access into the 189,000 acres (760 km 2) wilderness [4] is on foot or horseback.
