In creating geographical maps for Wikipedia, it is often useful to have high-quality source material such as blank outline maps, Adobe Photoshop or GIMP-format images with layers, SVG files and so on. This template is used to display a clickable world map to help users navigate a large list of countries by continent. Include the following where you want the map to appear: {{world image map}} The image map assumes that in-page links to all the continents exist, e.g., #Africa, and in some cases, individual countries, e.g., #Canada.
Maps are useful in presenting key facts within a geographical context and enabling a descriptive overview of a complex concept to be accessed easily and quickly. WikiProject Maps encourages the creation of free maps and their upload on Wikimedia Commons. On the project's pages can be found advice, tools, links to resources, and map conventions.
