As of the 2020 census , the city's population of 67,047 made it the state's ninth-most populous city and the twenty-fifth most-populous municipality. [ 4 ]
The town of Princetown was established in 1798 by the New York State Legislature, combining lands formerly known as Corry's Bush and land belonging to the Dutch Reformed Church in Schenectady. [6] It was named for John Prince, a New York State assemblyman from Albany County who lived in Schenectady proper at the time.
Mont Pleasant occupies approximately 521 acres (211 ha) in the south central part of Schenectady. The town of Rotterdam is to the south. The CSX railroad line is to the west separating the neighborhood from the Bellevue neighborhood, while Interstate 890 serves as the eastern boundary with the Hamilton Hill neighborhood.
