Route 85 is a 21.01-mile-long (33.81 km) north–south state highway in Massachusetts, United States.It passes through the heart of Boston's MetroWest region, through towns on the eastern edge of Worcester County and western edge of Middlesex County, crossing the border between the two counties four times.

Interstate 290 (I-290) is an auxiliary Interstate Highway in the US state of Massachusetts, maintained by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT). Spanning approximately 20 miles (32 km), it is signed as an east–west spur route of I-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike) in Central Massachusetts.
Route 109 begins at Route 16 in Milford, just east of Route 85's southern terminus. The route proceeds to the east, meeting Interstate 495 (I-495) at exit 19 before crossing into Norfolk County and the town of Medway. Route 109 passes through northern Medway, crossing Route 126 along the way before turning onto Main Street
The eastern terminus is at the junction between US 20 and I-291 northeast of the heart of the city. This alignment provides an alternate to I-291, which overlaps US 20 for much of its length, but was originally an alternate to old US 20, which ran down State Street and Boston Road.
