Paul Dudley White (June 6, 1886 – October 31, 1973) was an American physician and cardiologist. He was considered one of the leading cardiologists of his day, and a prominent advocate of preventive medicine .
Dudley's family was of English descent, [5] and he was a lineal descendant of colonial Massachusetts governor Thomas Dudley. [6] He was educated in the Covington public schools, graduating from Covington High School in 1876. Dudley devoted himself largely to scientific study. By 1875 he had already published an article in Scientific American. [7]
