I’m leaning towards having Bear Creek Ballistics build me a 350 Legend bolt gun capable of shooting their new 140gr ammo.
Generally most hunting cartridges are based on the 308, 8 x 57, or 30-06 case from 6mm (243) to 375 caliber. All will work for deer. Terrain, range, shooter characteristics help in the choice. The 243 and 25 cals in the above case modes can be fine cartridges for the young, old, injured, recoil sensitive, etc.

Most accurate semi-automatic rifle for hunting? 150-300 yards range probably. Feel free to concisely elaborate on bullet ballistics if that's what makes the case for the rifle type, or rifle features in general that do the trick, etc etc etc. Right now I'm inclined to build a modern M14, always liked and wanted an M14.

Glad I did, first two were within an inch of each other at 65 yards but six inches high. 3rd shot was within an inch of centre.
I will be hunting this year with a .308 AR. I understand for semi-auto shotguns and semi-auto rifles that there is a limit of rounds that can be in the magazine and gun combined. From the handbook: "It is unlawful to hunt with a semi-automatic shotgun or semi-automatic rifle that can hold more than six shells in the barrel and magazine combined ...

Around July 4th, sight-in. 2-3 shots. Usually no or minor adjustment. Nov. 15-17 shoot 2-3 times and kill that number of deer. Put gun away until next July. If I were to drop or give it a hard bump, sure then I'm going to sight-in during the season. That did happen once when my strap broke as I was walking out.
A straight-stocked gun with a 10-shot tubular magazine, these guns just ooze Old West styling-- or new Michigan deer hunting! I picked up 4 or 5 of these at Meijer and Walmart under $20 each (Same day Sandy Hook happen) maybe I should cash in.
