Acute pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas that develops quickly. The main symptom is abdominal pain. It usually settles in a few days but sometimes it becomes severe and very serious. The most common causes of acute pancreatitis are gallstones and drinking alcohol above recommended limits.
Chronic pancreatitis. Chronic pancreatitis can cause tummy (abdominal) pain, poor digestion, diabetes and other complications. Alcohol is the common cause. Treatment includes painkillers, other medication and, most importantly, stopping alcohol drinking for good. Surgery is sometimes needed.

Plenty of starchy carbohydrates. Examples include bread, rice, cereals, pasta, potatoes, chapattis and plantain.

Do yourself a favor and try to calm down the pancreas and liver. I would suggest at least one to two glasses of organic prune juice daily. Fresh Ginger tea with fresh lemon. Only try to eat homemade chicken soup. Yogurt is okay. It will take at least one week on this type of diet to feel better.
Hello, I had my first acute attack of pancreatitis 2 weeks ago. Spent 2 days in hospital on IV fluids and NG tube. Lipase levels 115. I continue to experience mild pain (not taking any medications) in my right upper abdomen which is not associated with food (actually food makes it better). No alcohol or fat foods since attack.
