A new, replacement movement, will be of Hermle design and fit where the original Urgos movement was. The original part number on the movement is UW/48A. The other number has little/no significance. Many people who sold clocks were furniture manufacturers and bought movements to fit their clocks from clock movement manufacturers.

Aug 18, 2024. #8. The Gufa movement, whether single- or triple-chime, is robust and well-built. From the photos, there does not appear to be appreciable pivot wear on this one. The wheel on the leader is a neat feature that allows one to put the clock in beat very easily.

I have taken the movement out of the case and am trying to identify what it is. The only marks I can see on the back of the movement are FHS 15cm 178,28. I understand that this means that it is a Hermle movement, 15cm refers to pendulum length and 178,28 is the beats per minute. My problem is that it does not seem to have any other identifying ...

Today I was helping someone with a 5-tube grandfather clock that was put together in 1990. The movement was not a typical 5-tube one. This one had 4 hammers on rods hitting the tubes to play Westminster and a 5th hammer on a rod that would his the 5th tube is a sideways action. I was trying to take photos of the back on the movement, but it ...

    mb.nawcc.org/threads/help-identifying-cuckoo-clock-movement.171711

It is stamped with "Germany" on both the front clock face and the back panel upper left corner. The Roman numeral 4 on the clock is four lines, not an IV. The bird looks to be plastic with painted eyes. My questions are: Is there a serial number attached to the movement, and where can I reference it to determine the movement type and date.
