A new, replacement movement, will be of Hermle design and fit where the original Urgos movement was. The original part number on the movement is UW/48A. The other number has little/no significance. Many people who sold clocks were furniture manufacturers and bought movements to fit their clocks from clock movement manufacturers.
Oct 10, 2024. #1. Hi all, Hoping someone can offer me some guidance with a clock movement that I am not all that familiar with yet. I recently received a cuckoo clock with a Hubert Herr movement in it that has a strike wheel, as opposed to a rack and snail that I am far more familiar with. I noticed that overnight, when I lock the cuckoo door ...
Aug 18, 2024. #8. The Gufa movement, whether single- or triple-chime, is robust and well-built. From the photos, there does not appear to be appreciable pivot wear on this one. The wheel on the leader is a neat feature that allows one to put the clock in beat very easily.
This is a weight-driven triple-chime movement. I haven't weighed the weights yet, but they are heavy! I'll post more on that later. There are a total of 12 hammers, eight chime and four strike. On the back is: Made in Germany by Erhard Jauch Uhrenfabrik for Emperor Clock Company Serial number is 249965 Also indicates the pendulum is 110 cm.
Unfortunately, cleaning a clock movement is not a simple process. The entire movement must be disassembled, cleaned, inspected, "polished" (some parts need "polishing", known as "burnishing"), and reassembled. To make your situation even more difficult, WD40 is very difficult to remove. It contaminates the clock cleaning solution necessitating ...
First time post. We have a 1973 Ridgeway grandmother (model 131) clock with an 'E' movement. The clock is not working and before I take the movement out I would like to have an accurate parts diagram and matching parts list so I can understand the movement and be able to identify parts as needed. Until I can speak intelligently enough to ask ...
Hello. I've come into possession of a large cuckoo clock as shown in pictures. It looks quite old to me and has a cuckoo with moving wings. Could anyone identify the movement make and give an idea of its age? I've got most of the other parts except for one of the weights and am hopefully going to get it restored to working condition. Many thanks.
NAWCC Member. Jan 14, 2011. #1. Here is a pictorial guide for Kienzle and Thomas Haller AG Westminster wall clocks from the 1890's to 1930's. KIENZLE. The earliest wall clock I've been able to find is a Vienna style clock that chimes and strikes on 5 rods. This clock was built around either the late 1890's or early 1900's.
Danimal. May 31, 2006. #2. Man, I sure am glad this board is here..... I just got a tall case kit clock in with a Viking movement. The problem is, it needs a pendulum and suspension spring (along with some bushings, but that's another matter) but I don't know what size suspension spring to get. The back of the movement is marked:
