Omega TV is a free to air terrestrial TV channel. It is the first private television channel established in Cyprus. Since the launch of the channel in 1992, it has been ‘dedicated to broadcasting high quality Cypriot and Greek programming.’ This includes kids programs as well as Church orientated programs.
In July 2014, On TV Tonight launched TV listings for broadcast, cable and satellite viewers in the United States and later in Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia. It enabled users to customize their guide to hide channels unavailable to them and to choose favorite shows to highlight on their personalized schedule.
The private channels ANT1 Cyprus, Plus TV, Omega, Sigma and New Extra (a predecessor of One Channel) formed Velister which carries their digital programming. It's thought that Velister covered the whole south region of Cyprus before the analogue switch off on 1 July 2011. Reception of free to air digital channels varies across the country.
