Extensions to the school were opened in September 1935. By 1950 it had 700 boys and girls, 800 by 1954 and 900 by 1958. In 1957 it was decided to split the school into two single sex schools. In 1959, the boys left for the new grammar school, and the girls stayed at the old site. Parents protested about the move.
Whilst this is a Church of England school, when available the school will also offer places to children from other Christian denominations. The school is also a Post-Graduate Teacher Training Centre, and since September 1998 has Beacon status. Crompton House was awarded Specialist School Status in 2005 as an Arts College (Music, Art and Drama).
The school caters to pupils aged 11–16, offering GCSE courses. It is temporarily located at The Blue Coat School, and construction on the purpose-built new school complex is planned to be completed by April 2023. The Blue Coat School [2] is a co education Church of England academy for 11- to 18-year-olds, located in the town of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. The school caters for pupils aged 11–18, offering A-level and GCSE courses. It is one of the few schools in the country to hold Leading Edge Partnership programme and science college status.
Kingsland School is a pupil referral unit located on Broadbent Road, Watersheddings, Oldham. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Kingsland School supports pupils, aged between 10 and 16, who are unable to access mainstream school, including those with behaviour problems, or have been permanently excluded, or those who cannot attend for medical reasons.
