The American Show Racer pigeon (also known as the Show Pen Racer, and nicknamed the "Bird of Dignity.") [1] is a breed of domestic pigeon that began in the early 1950s with the finest Racing Homers, selectively bred for their breed type. The Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum is an automotive museum located at 6825 Norwitch Drive in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. [1] The museum's collection consists of approximately 75 racing sports cars and has been assembled over more than 50 years by Frederick A. Simeone, a retired neurosurgeon and native of Philadelphia.

Cher Ami was one of 600 English-bred birds donated to the Pigeon Service on May 20, 1918. It is unknown exactly when Cher Ami hatched, though it was likely in late March or early April of 1918. Cher Ami's identification band is stamped with "NURP 18 EAD 615," meaning he was a "National Union Racing Pigeon" and born in 1918.
