SQIFF (Scottish Queer International Film Festival) is Scotland's only active dedicated LGBTQ+ film festival. [ 1 ] Created in 2014, with a series of one off screenings, the festival launched fully in 2015 and became an annual event. [ 2 ]
In 2016 it occupied over 11 acres on the lakeside of Krull Park, had representation from about 40 Scottish clans, and included cultural and athletic demonstrations as well as Celtic music. [7] Beginning in 2019, the festival relocated to the Niagara County Fairgrounds in order to continue the growth of the popular event.
The festival has taken place at Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) on an annual basis since April 2011, [1] with the exception of 2020, when the festival was cancelled, and 2021, when a scaled-back version was held, in both cases due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
