A victim of a conspiracy, he died penniless in 1815 and was succeeded by his eldest son, Thomas Robert, the second baronet. On his death in 1835 he was succeeded by his younger brother, Charles John, the third baronet. Charles died in 1868 with no male issue, thereby rendering the baronetcy extinct.
