His first head coaching job came in 2003 when he was hired by Tusculum College in the Tennessee town of the same name. Baucom immediately made an impression; his first year in 2003–04, he led the Pioneers to a 19–8 season en route to a South Atlantic Conference championship. Dale Gibson is a former men's basketball coach at Liberty University (then called Lynchburg Baptist College). After leaving coaching, he served as a professor at Liberty where he started the school's Sport Management program. Currently he teaches at Tusculum College.
