The Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks are a group of 20 metropolitan parks in and around Columbus, Ohio. They are officially organized into the Columbus and Franklin County Metropolitan Park District. The Metro Parks system was organized in 1945 under Ohio Revised Code Section 1545 as a separate political division of the state of Ohio.
SR 161 starts off in Mutual as Milford Road, at a T-intersection at SR 29. [4] The road turns northeast and later meets SR 559 and Bullard Rutan Road in a 5-point intersection. In 1948 the first 75-acre tract of land was purchased for the park. This tract included an overlook of the 100-foot shale bluffs and two ancient earthworks by the Cole culture. In 1964 and 1965, the Metro Parks purchased adjacent land and began planning for the park. [4] The park opened September 22, 1973 as the fifth Metro Park.
