It is clearly a roku problem as the same issues do not occur when watching from phone or laptop. Cannot fast forward any recorded programs or watch "key plays" from sporting events with the spinning buffering wheel. This is extremely frustrating as the only reason for youtube tv is to watch recorded programs and sporting events.
My Roku TV is about 6 months old. Today is the first day I noticed the dark picture when streaming anything. I tried the menus as well as pressing star on my remote and none of the settings fixed it. I then unplugged the tv from the wall, software update, power restart through settings-system-power-restart. I checked it and it seemed to work fine.
Re: None of my apps will let me watch. .. and note that for a Roku TV with "Fast TV start" enabled, turning the TV off and back on just puts it into and out of a standby state and does NOT give you a complete restart. You'll find the "System restart" option under "Settings > System > Power" for Roku TVs and some Roku streamer models.
