Orfordville is a village in Rock County, Wisconsin, United States. It is located at the intersection of Highway 11 , Highway 213 , and the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad . The population was 1,473 at the 2020 census.
The Orfordville Depot was built in 1886 by the Milwaukee and Mississippi Railroad and served as a de facto social center for the tiny community of Orfordville, Wisconsin for decades. [2] In 1988 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. [1] [3] The town of Orfordville is where it is because of the railroad.
The highway crosses WIS 213 in Orfordville and passes through Footville before beginning its southern bypass of Janesville. The bypass crosses US 51 and then joins I-39 and I-90 for 3 miles (4.8 km) back up north where it turns east toward US 14 and joins it concurrently - the two routes continuing east to Walworth County .
WIS 213 was designated in 1961 for a segment formerly a part of WIS 13 south of Evansville when WIS 13 was truncated to end in the Wisconsin Dells area. Later in 1961, WIS 213 was extended southerly from its terminus at WIS 81 to end at WIS 15. In 1988, Interstate 43 (I-43) replaced WIS 15, and WIS 213 was extended to the state line. [1]
It includes the cities of Beloit and Evansville, and the village of Orfordville. The district also contains Beloit College. [2] The district is represented by Democrat Clinton Anderson, since January 2023. [3] The 45th Assembly district is located within Wisconsin's 15th Senate district, along with the 43rd and 44th Assembly districts. [4]

The Gempeler Round Barn near Orfordville, Wisconsin, United States, is a round barn built about 1912, unusual in that its central support is the trunk of an oak tree, three feet across at the top. [2] The barn was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1979. [3] [1]
