John Henry Hopkins Jr. (October 28, 1820 – August 14, 1891) was an American clergyman and hymnodist, most famous for composing the song "We Three Kings of Orient Are" in 1857 (even though it does not appear in print until his Carols, Hymns, and Songs in 1863).
The album includes all twelve tracks from McLachlan's 2006 Christmas album, Wintersong and five other Christmas songs. "God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen / We Three Kings" was recorded backstage by Barenaked Ladies and McLachlan using one mic and done in one take at Planetfest in December 1996 for US radio station WPLT.
