Springfield Furniture Company, also known as the General Warehouse Corp., is a historic manufacturing complex located at Springfield, Greene County, Missouri.The original sections were built about 1895, and expanded through 1933.
Heer's Department Store, also known as the Greater Heer Store, is a historic Heer's department store building located at Springfield, Greene County, Missouri. It was built in 1915, and is a seven-story commercial building which is sheathed with cream colored terra cotta. A two-story addition was constructed in 1951.
Heer's was founded in 1869 by German immigrant Charles H. Heer (1820-1898) and incorporated as Charles H. Heer Dry Goods Company in 1882. [2] Charles H. Heer passed management of the store to his youngest son, Francis Xavier Heer (1862-1949), in 1886.
Notable buildings include the Springfield Ice and Refrigerator Company (1914, 1927), Armour Creamery Boiler House (c. 1900), Andrew Rebori Company (c. 1900), Crighton Provision Company (c. 1900), and Armour Creamery Cold Storage Warehouse (c. 1910). [2] It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. [1]
