This historic district measures three square miles and includes 13,459 contributing buildings, nine contributing sites, six contributing structures, and nineteen contributing objects that are located in the city of Lancaster. The buildings date from 1760 to 1950, with the majority dating from 1860 to 1930.
The 1941 and 1963 wings were sold to the city in 1999; after a $4.5 renovation, the wings were leased to an insurance company in 2003. [11] The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 14, 1982, and was designated a contributing property to the Lancaster City Historic District on September 7, 2001.
