1950: After the establishment of the Romanian People's Republic in 1947 and the subsequent administrative reform, the city became part of the Sibiu Region , and from 1952, the Stalin Region (renamed Brașov Region in 1960). 1968: The old administrative division of județ was reinstated, and Mediaș became part of Sibiu County.

Ocna Sibiului (German: Salzburg; Hungarian: Vízakna) is a town in the centre of Sibiu County, in southern Transylvania, central Romania, 10 km (6.2 mi) to the north-west of the county seat, Sibiu. The town administers a single village, Topârcea (Tschapertsch; Toporcsa).
