Three municipalities have water rights to the lake: Grapevine, Dallas, and the Dallas County Park Cities, which provides water to various communities in Dallas County. Under its September 1953 contract, Grapevine obtained 1,250 acre-feet (1,540,000 m 3 ) of the water in the elevations between 500 and 535 feet (152 and 163 m) above sea level.

Grapevine Canyon is located in the Bridge Canyon Wilderness Area [1] and the Spirit Mountain Wilderness within Lake Mead National Recreation Area. [2] The canyon contains the Grapevine Canyon Petroglyphs and is accessible from Nevada State Route 163 which leads to Lower Grapevine Canyon Road.
Great Wolf Lodge began as a small indoor water park resort called Black Wolf Lodge which was founded in 1997 by brothers Jack and Andrew "Turk" Waterman, the original owners of Noah's Ark Water Park in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. [3] Ancient Native American petroglyphs abound in Grapevine Canyon, located just south of Spirit Mountain.
