South San Antonio High School is a public high school located in the city of San Antonio, Texas, United States and classified as a 5A school by the UIL. It is a part of the South San Antonio Independent School District located in southwest Bexar County. South San Antonio High School opened in a new building on August 26, 2013.
South San Antonio ISD received a “No Improvement Required” status for the 2016 school year, and none of its schools received failing ratings. This was the second year in a row for the district. That same year, the district's STAAR results produced a total of 21 TEA distinctions that were awarded to 10 SSAISD campuses.
Following the opening of the new South San Francisco High School campus on B Street in 1951, the old campus was renamed Spruce School and used for intermediate grades (4-8). A significant portion of the main building was demolished in 1959 with the remaining structure modernized in 1958 and 1966 to house Spruce Elementary School.
South San Francisco High School is composed of a main office building, school library, auditorium, cafeteria large and small gyms, Science Garage, and nine campus wings. Wings B-G contain the majority of the school's academic classrooms. The "S" wing contains the woods, auto, ceramics, and art shops.
