The Atlantic and Yadkin Railway was a short line railroad within North Carolina from 1899 to 1950. It ran from Mount Airy southeast to Sanford , primarily serving the Piedmont region. Some of the rails are still in use as of 2006 as parts of the Yadkin Valley Railroad .

The Atlantic and Yadkin was incorporated in North Carolina under the general laws ratified March 1, 1873, for the purpose of acquiring the property, rights, and franchises formerly owned by the Cape Fear and Yadkin Valley Railway Company. The reorganization was approved by an act of legislature ratified February 23, 1899.

A third tract was leased to the Town of Clayton for use as part of the Clayton River Walk which serves as an extension of the Neuse River Trail into Johnston County, and it is also utilized as part of the East Coast Greenway's route. NCDPR owns the northernmost property the River Walk crosses.
